Know your Heirloom and Ancient Grains

Last March, The New York Times published a short article giving readers pointers on the new cereals and grains everyone is craving for. As we all know, the term “ancient” or “heirloom” grains is very wide and encompasses many different types of nutritious food. Although all are associated with healthier diets and lifestyles, they must not be confused since they all have different qualities, proteins and nutrients.

The article provides us with brief descriptions of the different cereals inside the wheat family, including freekeh, einkorn, spelt, Kamut, emmer and sorghum.
